Mary portrait.png

mary

Mary grew up in a very religious family. Throughout her childhood, she was taught that even in the darkest of times, God would be by her side to protect her as long as she paid forward God's love. Since then, Mary has run a local coffee shop, creating an environment where all are welcome to visit. Mary is a kind, dedicated and devoted person who would priorities the needs of others before her own in a heartbeat. However, her devotion to religion has often kept her ignorant of the real-world issues going on outside of her small town. The girl next door archetype, such as Mary Jane from Spider-Man, is an influence for her character. Played by Holly.

The Man in White is the first of the four horsemen; he is cursed with a diseased touch. He acts as the calm before the storm. With his cold, quiet and mysterious personality, the Man in White is a man of few words. The interactions he shares with Mary expose him as a snobbish character who doesn’t care for the devil's games. Physically, the Man in White has an icy, pale complexion and cold, blue eyes, giving the impression that he is permanently chilled. The Comparable characters to The Man in White include: Blanche Dubois from A Streetcar Named Desire and Amy March from Little Women. Played by Alfie.

The Man in Beige is one of the four horsemen and is the reincarnation of famine. Unlike the devil, the Man in Beige takes no joy in the atrocities he commits. Instead, his motivation is the fear of his fellow horsemen. The Man in Beige is a fragile person; he is riddled with anxiety and nervousness. Through his interactions with Mary, it is shown that he is socially awkward and not good at communicating with others, perhaps due to his life of following the orders of the devil without asking questions. Influences for this character include Bob Taylor from Prisoners and Jim Carroll from The Basketball Diaries. Played by Tyler.

The Woman in Red is the embodiment of war and unrest. Her persona is the meanest and most detestable of all the horsemen. Her interactions from the moment she enters the screen are hateful, from her red outfit to her snappy tone. Her role within the film is to start the negging and breaking down of Mary, and to be the first real challenge to her purity. She knows about Mary’s purity and hates her for it and it is this that influences all her beliefs and interactions. Her character is inspired by Rosman Pike in Gone Girl or Kathy Bates in Misery. Played by Abbie.

Man In Black portrait_edited_edited_edit

???

The Man in Black is the personification of the fourth horseman; death. Always in control, he commands the room with his presence alone – standing formidably at about 6ft 2 and holding an unwavering, deep stare. He dresses in all black from head to toe, a modern interpretation of death: black fedora, fitted gloves, sleek jacket. Even his eyes are dark, which makes his close encounters with Mary all the more unsettling. His presence is accompanied by a dark aura – the lights will slowly dim as the scenes intensify, a metaphor for the underworld as in the Book of Revelations. He’s here to bring the end to Mary. Played by Josh.
